LOCH LEVEN

From the M 90 road that runs south from Perth to Edinburgh, you can see a Loch with an Island in it. On the Island is a small castle. Mary Queen of Scots was once held prisoner in this castle. The Loch is also worth visiting, because it is home to many birds. In winter, you may see many geese and ducks and in summer the great crested grebes. To watch them, call at VANE FARM NATURE RESERVE. As well as the loch, you may see birds in wet grassland, woodland and heather moorland or you can follow the nature trail up the hill.

THE SCOTTISH RAPTOR CENTRE

This centre is also just off the Perth to Edinburgh road (close to junction 6). It is possible to see many birds of prey. You can see flying demonstrations or visit the incubation centre where birds are hatched.
